The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library retained HBM for a visioning process to explore options for an expansion and renovation project to serve a growing community.

HBM facilitated a community stakeholder session to gather input and paid close attention to the context of the community and the existing library in developing the conceptual design. The only space available for expansion is an adjacent property owned by Hancock County and currently used for parking, which is in high demand in the downtown area. An unbuildable utility easement separates the county-owned property from the library building. The design solution was to expand the library on the second level, bridging the utility easement, and incorporating tuck-under parking on the ground level. This will provide the Library with much needed expansion space while also maintaining access to convenient downtown parking.

In addition, a major potential corporate donor is headquartered right in Findlay with a significant interest in the cultural and civic resources available within the City. The concepts that HBM developed provided the Library with the vision and material to demonstrate the need and exciting potential to this donor for the renovation and expansion project.

This project is currently in the fundraising phase.
