HURON PUBLIC LIBRARY
This 32,500 square foot library combines the existing 12,000 square foot library, a neighboring 8,000 square foot office building, and a new 12,500 square foot grade level addition to create an open environment with an abundance of controlled natural light.
The existing library main level was renovated for adult services, including a quiet reading lounge and three study rooms. The lower level now contains large and small meeting rooms, computer training room, display gallery, storage, and a new home for the local historical society, which is acclimatized and protected to preservation standards. A new central elevator and stairway services all.
The graceful curve of the new 12,500 square foot grade level addition links both structures and contains entrances from the new parking lot and an existing city lot. A centrally located circulation desk controls all areas including: children's, VA, media, adult services, self-check and patron copy center.
