The Barkman and Lucero Branches will undergo expansions to better serve their diverse communities. Both libraries will feature new meeting rooms with after-hours access, reimagined layouts for noise control, and flexible, mobile shelving. A nature-inspired interior palette, access to content creation technology, and improved functionality are central to the design. The Barkman Branch will also introduce an outdoor plaza for programming and expand parking for greater usability.

    DUAL BRANCH EXPANSION
    Both Barkman and Lucero Branches will receive small additions, providing new meeting rooms with after-hours access.

    FUNCTIONAL LAYOUT
    Noisier spaces will be placed near entrances, with quieter areas deeper inside for enhanced user experience.

    INTERIOR DESIGN
    Features a nature-inspired palette, mobile book displays, and content creation technology for modern functionality.

    BARKMAN BRANCH ENHANCEMENTS
    Includes a new outdoor plaza for extended programming, an expanded parking lot, and two enclosed study rooms for focused work.

    EFFICIENCY UPGRADES
    The Barkman Branch’s AMH system will move closer to the entry, and staff workspaces will be redesigned for improved efficiency.

    FLEXIBILITY
    Both branches will offer laptop lending to increase seating options and reduce the need for fixed computer stations.
