HUDSON LIBRARY &

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

This library building embraces the Western Reserve style of architecture and character defined in the community. Passing through classically detailed spaces leads to a dramatic central space.

The library is an anchor and prime activity generator for the First & Main mixed use development integrated within this historic community. HBM completed the building in 2005 with flexibility in mind. It allowed us to continue to assist the client with technology upgrades and easily adapting the building to changes by refreshing the Teen Area in the Spring of 2016 and the Children’s Area in November 2016. Additionally, the Library has recently completed the installation of a new Creativity Lab on the second floor.

These recent updates include the finishes and technology for the teen room, which  now features a 9-panel screen for dual gaming, movie night, distance learning, and mobile tables for easy reconfiguration. The display wall has integrated LED lighting to change the “mood” of the room at the touch of an iPad. Additional features include Oculus Rift stations, an upgraded computer counter, and laptops / tablets available for checkout.

The Children’s Room renovation is themed around Alice In Wonderland including 3-dimensional characters and tea party tables. Interactive components entice the imagination and spark early literacy fundamentals. Updated computers and technology throughout help to make the space more user friendly. We also rearranged the existing collection shelving to open views and added color to the existing end panels to create a new experience in an existing space.
