This exciting new building is the first branch library for the Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library system and is in a rapidly growing area north of Clarksville.

This will not be a static building, but rather a space that can adapt to future needs through both its dynamic exterior form and interior plan. Energy is created by the building’s composition which is based on two forms flowing parallel and in concert with each other. The form to the south is oriented towards Route 374 with full height glass allowing for a strong visual connection into the library from those passing by. The roof line rises to create two peaks highlighting the adult and children’s spaces.

As you enter the site to the north you are welcomed into the library by a rising roof line that creates a glass filled entry portal. An outdoor program space is created on the west side of the building in the interstitial space between the two forms. The site configuration will also allow 100+ parking spaces and for the library to provide drive-up services to this community. The first time this convenience can be offered in the system.

The exterior materials are stone and wood, materials that are local to the area. The wood would be a wood-look aluminum panel, a low maintenance, durable product, paired with a Smokey Mountain dry-stack stone. Horizontal rods along the glass to the south and west help to diffuse glare and filter the sunlight for those inside the building. The roof fascia is a cementitious panel with a striated texture.

The community will benefit from being able to access library materials, services, technology, and attend programs in this location. The branch uses a modern and flexible approach to the layout which will allow the building to change along with the library services over time.
