The project centers around a 3,500 SF addition to an existing 15,800 SF branch library that is designed to create a unifying and dynamic facade along Coy Road signifying a completely re-vamped interior while remaining sympathetic to the existing materials.

The goal of the interior design was to open up the building, take down walls and create a flexible space with clear sight lines allowing for fewer service points. Modifications were also made to exterior walls in order to enlarge windows, bring in more natural light, and offer expanded views to the surrounding green space.

The red accents carried through both the exterior and interior of the building speak to both the original brick and the Library’s brand. The red is also used to highlight glowing staff service points that are easy for customers to find in the space.

A transitional space housing glass-enclosed study rooms and a maker space leads from the existing portion of the building to the addition. The addition features a quiet Adult Collection and reading area to one side and a new Children’s Area to the other. The Children’s Area features an O-H-I-O early literacy interactive element and a collaboration with DIRTT helped to create an interactive technology wall. The building also features a 24 / 7 vestibule with access to after-hours lockers and under-carpet wiring for future flexibility.
